LGA Scully retires
Port loses a leader
Interview with Lysa Scully who has
been the General Manager at LaGuardia
Airport (LGA) for the past 9 years and
with Port for another 24 years. Team and
family are two words she most often uses
to describe her experience.
“It’s about the team here. They are
amazing. It is never about a person.”
These are the words with which she
opened the interview.
Q-You say that LGA is like a family.
How?
A- It felt like family from the moment
I was on a temporary assignment for a
year. I was here for a year and fell in love
with this airport. It was such a physically
small airport, and I had a chance to get to
know everyone. It has all very embracing.
Being small and compact, you can’t do
work in isolation. What one does impacts
everyone else. We all work together and
know each other. People know names,
wave to each other and help each other
out. Truly the legacy here. This is my
home. This is what is great about a small
airport like this.
