Giving ‘110 Percent’

According to a recent JFK notification, effective April 1, 2018, the Port Authority will no longer allow airfield access through JFK Vehicle Entry Guard Posts for horses and their transport vehicles including accompanying equipment and personnel. Read more…

Dog Catcher bares his teeth

The Customs Border Protection (CBP) agency is currently running the Dog Catcher operation at JFK to intercept illegally shipped dogs to the US. According to Deputy Chief James Bowles, Cargo Control, dogs are being shipped either in cargo or as checked in luggage to this country in the hopes of making big money. Other federal agencies are joining in on the hunt for illegal dogs and shippers. Commander Hercules of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and Stefanie Mount of the USDA are two of the women are working with CBP to stop this mistreatment of animals. The Pet Oasis animal facility at JFK is also involved with caring for animal exams and caring for them while a disposition is determined. Read more…

Long Island airports receive state funding

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced $20.5 million in funding for 29 airport projects under the Aviation Capital Grant Program. This state-funded program supports strategic investments at public-use airports across New York to ensure safety, modernize aviation-related facilities, leverage private investment, and sustain and create well-paying aeronautical-related jobs. Eccleston retiring from Airbus

Barry Eccleston is retiring as President of Airbus Americas on his birthday, February 28, 2018. According to this outgoing president he felt these were “twelve great years but it was time to move on”. He will spend a lot of his time relaxing with one of his favorite activities, flying his Cessna 172 along the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
