The aliyah at JFK Airport today was touching. Ron Werner of the Jewish National Fund comforts Heidi Rothberg’s tears of joy seeing over 250 people emigrate — make aliyah — to Israel. This flight was named after Heidi because of her tireless work and support of the Olim. Heidi Rothberg Aliyah Flight 2018. El Al executives Yoram Eligrabli, and Gil Radomsky and President Roel Huinink were on hand with many other supporters to see the 250 Olim leave New York for a new life in Israel. Just before going through security dozens of loved ones hugged tightly not knowing when they would see each other again.

NYCEDC announces RFP for land parcel adjacent to JFK Airport

New York City Economic Development Corporation (“NYCEDC”) is pleased to release this Request for Proposals (“RFP”) on behalf of the City of New York (“City”) for the long-term ground lease and development of an approximately four-acre vacant property (“Site”) located on the south side of Rockaway Boulevard at the corner of Eastern Road and abutting John F. Kennedy International Airport (“JFK”) on part of Block 14260, Lot 1 in Queens. NYCEDC seeks proposals that take advantage of the Site’s unique location to construct a logistics, distribution, and/or freight-related airport-compatible facility. Read more…

ODAP students have a great FAA field day

Students learned about careers in aviation from FAA Air Traffic Controllers and pilots in New York at the Aviation Career Education Camp with Organization of Black Aerospace Professionals (OBAP) held on Long Island. This is one of the many ACE Academy programs that provide middle and high school youth with exposure to opportunities in aerospace and aviation through week long summer camps. In additon ODAP runs a career Expo which takes place August 14-17. Read more…

JetBlue founder takes flight on 5th airline start-up

David Neeleman, founder of JetBlue Airways, Morris Air (which was bought by Southwest Airlines), Canada’s WestJet and Brazil’s Azul,is launching a fifth airline, one that will be based in the United States and allegedly uses the name Moxy Airlines. Female genetalia mutilation now airport prevention program

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Newark initiated Operation Limelight USA, a program designed to bring awareness to Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and prevent young girls from being subjected to FGM by informing passengers traveling to FGM high-prevalence countries about the U.S. laws governing FGM and the potential criminal, immigration, and child protective consequences of transporting a child to another country for the purpose of FGM. KAAMCO Golf Day scores big with members

Ah, finally the Kaamco Golf Day! At the last minute the original date was aborted because of one lousy rainy day. It was unclear if a venue could be found during the season. But, the Kaamco team did just that at the luxurious Plandome Country Club. What a beautiful golf course with endless rolling hills. Well it was great if you had a golf cart. Some of the holes seemed so far apart that the watering hole/ BBQ stop was very welcomed. Read more…

LaGuardia Airtrain on track as Cuomo signs legislation

Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed legislation to advance the process to build a new AirTrain connection to LaGuardia Airport. The Governor’s action marks another critical step toward making a mass-transit link between Midtown Manhattan and LaGuardia a reality, which will help reduce vehicular congestion and delays for passengers traveling to and from the airport. The Antonov AN124,one of the largest super freighter in the world , at JFK Airport taking a load of heavy equipment overseas. AA & TSA unveil new 3D checkpoint security scanner
