Small Queens business help on the way with $310 billion more PPP vows Congressional delegation

The Queens Chamber of Commerce held its second webex for small business relief with the Queens Congressional delegation today to discuss focused support for small business through the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) loan program run directly through lenders designed to help small employers fund payroll costs. This can be of great assistance to the many businesses that serve the Port Authority airport of JFK and LGA in Queens. Many of these concessions, restaurants and business services have been devastated by the Covid-19 virus. Read more…

Breathing a sign of relief

(2500) Mercury Medical Flow-Safe II CPAP devices arrived via JetBlue at JFK Airport. These CPAP devices are used to effectively help treat COVID-19 patients in Respiratory Distress. JetBlue, The NY Hometown airline, donated the flight, and Mercury Medical donated these important products to help prevent patients from deteriorating to the point where they will require mechanical ventilation. After arriving at JFK, these devices were immediately loaded onto a provided SGWS company truck and Local 701 driver for delivery to a government storage facility outside of Albany for use by a NYS response team as necessary. Ventilators! Coumo asked and got!

Ventilators! Governor Cuomo called, and they listened. Medical supplies including 1000 ventilators, and skids of boxed face masks were delivered by China Cargo and Asiana Saturday April 4th. Ground ops crew from WFS handled the arriving freight from the 747 at JFK Airport which was rushed to warehouse for redistribution by waiting truckers to fight covid19. Read more…

Russia flies ventilators and medical supplies to NY FEMA to fight Corona Virus

A Huge Antonov-124 cargo aircraft brought needed medical supplies to FEMA, NY including Aventa-M ventilators, from Russia, along with respirators and health care supplies. Worldwide Flight Services (WFS) handled the ground ops at JFK Airport with CBP, PAPD and ARFF on hand for customs and security and safety. Read more…

Port Authority Board meeting stresses health, safety and recovery

Yesterday, March 26, the Port held its monthly meeting. The Board acknowledged that Covid-19 health crisis has had profound impact on Port and the public. Executive Director Rick Cotton spoke about the impact and above all thanked the Port and all front line workers for their “dedication and commitment” during this period. Both he and Chairman O’Toole expressed a great deal of empathy for the workers across the board and this was a large part of the Port’s comments during the meeting. Read more…
