Aer Lingus is shaking up its image, and marketing. The airline has changed its visual identity, is promoting its heritage to travelers and formally applied to join a transatlantic joint venture (JV) operated by its parent, IAG, and American Airlines.The joint motion from Aer Lingus, American Airlines, British Airways, Iberia, and Finnair indicates a number of potential benefits arising from the Irish airline joining the venture including lower fares and more connectivity options for travellers due to increased codesharing; all part of the new emphasis that the airline is putting on the old established European airline brand. Port buses go green

Proterra, a provider of heavy-duty electric transportation, has announced that the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has agreed to procure 18 Proterra Catalyst E2 vehicles to support a 100% electric airport shuttle service at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA), the company said. Read more…

Delta Chief Executive Officer Ed Bastian said during the company’s recent investor conference call that the airline is losing $25 million in January because fewer government contractors are taking business trips, and he said that the operational issues affected, such as not being able to get the paperwork to get newly purchased planes up and running. Delta also said it may not be able to put its new A330-900neos into service because of agency furloughs. Read more…

JFK Airport celebrates Lunar New Year, the Year of the Pig

Gov. Phil Murphy recently visited Newark Liberty International Airport and stressed the urgent need for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to act quickly to fund a new AirTrain system. Currently, AirTrain moves about 33,000 riders per day between Newark Airport terminals, parking lots, car rental facilities, to public transportation and the Northeast Corridor Rail Link, transporting more than 11 million riders annually. However, the system is nearing the end of its useful life and is beyond capacity constraints. The current AirTrain also interferes with plans for future locations of terminals, roadways, and airfield taxi lanes. Read more…

The JFK Air Cargo Association announced the JFK Air Cargo EXPO 2019 at Russo’s on the Bay. The theme of this year’s event is thus aptly named: JFK EXPO 2019: “E-commerce, E-partnerships, and E-volving Roles”. JFK EXPO 2019 will feature an Expert-Moderated Panel Session, an Exhibition Hall, and a Luncheon Keynote Speaker. Read more…

JFK Neighborhood Redev Council

Neighborhoods close to the new ReImagined JFK Airport have representatives on the JFK Redevelopment Council. Members listed include JFK Airport, Port Authority and close to JFK community individuals. They can be reached directly or at the new JFK Redevelopment Community Information Center where the public an meet with staff, ask questions and get answers to opportunities and area issues.
