Qatar A350-1000 arrives at JFK

AVP of Qatar Airways, Eric Odone was on hand to greet the inaugural flight of the newest aircraft, the Airbus A350-1000, to JFK Airport along with many journalists invited to see the new plane. The event was to give the media a chance to see new plane up close and personal and learn about the high-end features of its technology and the opulent QSuite business class. Qatar says that this plane is the first in service around the world and JFK Airport is the inaugural destination from Doha, Qatar. According to Odone, this aircraft has many new technological features that make it a great plane: it has two instead of four engines making is 30% more fuel efficient than other aircraft in its fleet. Governor Cuomo and the Port Authority of NYNJ (PORT) revealed that two airport terminal operators submitted and were given the go ahead to inject $10 billion of the $13 billion for the JFK Airport Redevelopment project. After months of waiting for the winning announcements, Port said that the proposals given by Terminal One Group (TOGA) and JetBlue Terminal 5 were best suited for this first phase of the huge project which creates two anchor mega-terminals at the South and North ends of the current airport. These plans to redevelop JFK came after the Governor announced a $10 billion Vision Plan for JFK in January 2017. The passenger is essentially the most important person at an airport. The sole reason is that they are the ones that provide business for the airports, airlines, vendors and concessions. Their financial impact is what makes an airport a self-sufficient entity . Usually the same persons that are providing good customer service are usually termed “Airport Ambassador or a Good-Will ambassador”. TSA talks to Kaamco Cargo

The October Kaamco Cargo Committee meeting was lead by Chairman Brian Cooley who welcomed the TSA to the group for an unclassified report. Topics of the meeting included reports from JFK Security, status of the USPS for holiday mail, new guard post procedures, upcoming cargo forum, discussion on new fees for security companies, PAPD update and general announcements. Sixty-three years ago the Our lady of the Skies Chapel opened at JFK Airport, then called Idelwild. This October the Chapel celebrated the 2018 Annual Luncheon sponsored by the Catholic Guild of JFK Airport. As in recent years, this was an occasion both to recognize men and women who exemplify achievement in our aviation community, as well as to present young people the Yolan DePhillips scholarship co-sponsored by Terminal 4 JFKIAT, for continuing education. JetBlue Swings for Good Golf Classic

JetBlue celebrated it’s 10th annual Swing for Good Golf Classic tournament. Many of the top executives of JetBlue, Robin Hayes, Joanna Geraghty and Steve Priest were swinging for good with hundreds of others to help the airline raise money for its foundation as it has done for a decade. Said Robin Hayes, “ Youth, education and community are core pillars of our corporate responsibility platform. Our dedication to the communities we serve goes beyond one day on the golf course. The TWA Hotel that is being built at JFK Airport finally received the large fuselage, the final branding components, completing the vintage Lockheed Constellation, nick-named “Connie” whose tail section had arrived 8 days earlier. The two large pieces had been trucked from Maine and crowds along the way waved and cheered as the vintage pieces rolled by enroute to JFK Airport. Read more…
