Alitalia eyes new fashions

Alitalia the legacy airline of Italy, which has held allure by passengers for decades with the romance of elegant Rome in mind, has again decided to commission the Alberta Ferretti fashion house to design new uniforms.

As potential buyers or financial backers work feverishly to hammer out a deal to save the airline, it seems that executives find this a perfect time to sew up other matters.

It seems that the recent redesign in 2016 with new uniforms which were highly reflective of the Mideast Etihad partner look are to be changed ostensibly at the request of attendant crews for “greater comfort.” Currently the fashion look is a bit retro with caps, green stockings and a burgundy color dress.

Alitalia said the uniform update won’t create any new financial burdens and was looking for a summer fashion changeover.

Ferretti said its collection would partner elegance with convenience to ensure that all personnel are “comfortable in each working environment and throughout any season.”

So, as the company is working its way through deep financial troubles, unions failing to negotiate, an infusion of money by the Italian government to keep the airline running, and bankruptcy in both Europe and the US, Alitalia seems it is the time to focus on form, more than function.
