Free turkeys from LGA Kiwanis

The LaGuardia chapter of the Kiwanis brought its annual community Turkey and Gift card program to 80 members of the Elmhurst neighborhood. The companies of Royal Waster and AR Foods donated the turkeys to the waiting line of families and individuals who welcomed this donation of food for the Thanksgiving holiday. Gift cards were also given out by Kiwanis board members and volunteers at the Episcopal Church of Grace and Redemption under the spiritual leadership of Reverend Gilberto A. Hinds who donated the space for those receiving the food.

On hand were Shanel Thomas, President of the Kiwanis, Cheryl Jones, past President, Bill Huisman, Treasurer, George Dixon of the board and volunteers Stephen and Rose Cumberbatch, Rose Dixon, George Gibson and other community volunteers to help unpack the big birds, and assist the recipients with their package

The Kiwanis Club of LaGuardia is made up of key business leaders within the airport community and businesses engaged with the region’s aviation industry. The mission of the Kiwanis clubs is to help improve the world, one child, and one community at a time. The LaGuardia Chapter has been in existence for over 75 years helping children, their families and seniors of the neighboring community.
