American Express and JFK Terminal 4 held a special groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate what will be the world’s largest Centurion Lounge, set to open in 2020.
During the ceremony, guests were taken to the airfield and into the Centurion Lounge construction site for an official groundbreaking moment with Chris Cracchiolo, SVP, Global Loyalty & Benefits at American Express, Roel Huinink, the President and CEO of JFKIAT (the company which operates Terminal 4), and Huntley Lawrence, the Director of Aviation at Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Following the ceremony, Alexander Lee, VP, Global Benefits and Services at American Express, offered a tour inside of the soon-to-be lounge space. To conclude the ceremony, guests gathered in the terminal for NYC-inspired light bites and refreshments.
Chris Cracchiolo, SVP, Global Loyalty & Benefits at American Express, shared “As a major gateway for both domestic and international travel, we’re thrilled to soon provide our Card Members with a premium lounge experience in Terminal 4, one of the most active air terminals in the country.” Before cutting the ribbon, he added, “While today marks just the beginning of this vision coming to life, we look forward to sharing more in the coming months and eventually when we open in 2020.”
Roel Huinink, the President and CEO of JFKIAT, said “As the international gateway to New York City and the rest of the United States, Terminal 4 serves more than 21.5 million travelers each year,” said Roel Huinink. “The Centurion Lounge is a perfect match for our passengers who already expect premium service and experiences when they travel out of Terminal 4, and we are very excited about this partnership.”
“We are very pleased that American Express has chosen Terminal 4 for its largest Centurion Lounge yet,” said Huntley Lawrence, the Director of Aviation at Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. “The Centurion Lounge will provide a new amenity for passengers at one of the highest volume terminals in New York City.”
