February/March Community Events
Covid-19 Updates & Related Information
Black History Month
This month is is a time to reflect on
the achievements, culture, passions,
and impact Black individuals have had
on our society. It is also a time to reflect
on the state of racism that still haunts
our society today and how this impacts
the relationships those of color with
the the rest of society. At JFK Airport
we are blessed with having the most
microcosm of diversity which reflects
the greater borough of Queens, itself
a melting pot of cultures. Because of
this diversity in color, culture and the
clergy which have places of worship adjacent
to each other in Terminal 4, we
AIRPORT V 6 OICE, FEBRUARY 2021
are somewhat removed from the overarching
divisions we see in other parts
of the country.
We have a unique relationship with
each other at JFK, LGA and EWR because
the Port Authority is open to diversity
and inclusion that is then incorporated
into our lives in these airports.
This is not to say we don’t have some
difficulties to overcome, but we as NY
area airport workers find ways to work
together in our adjacent communities
and do our jobs in this special area in
aviation. This month let’s remember the
Black innovators and barrier breakers in
aviation and the current leaders in our
chosen field of work.

Vaccines are available to airport
workers, those over 65 and those

Super vaccine centers are in operation
at Aqueduct, Citifield, Yankee
Stadium, Javits Center and
other neighbor centers meant to
serve that local community. CVS will
be offering shots as well.
Vaccines are in short supply so it
is still a long wait once a reservation
is made.
Reactions to the second shot
vary from nothing to a 24 hour period
of some aches. Tylenol sill work

for travelers to test-out of the mandatory
10-day quarantine are below:
For travelers who were out-ofstate

-On day 4 of their quarantine, the

the traveler may exit quarantine
early upon receipt of the second
