Scouts hold Aviation Luncheon

The Queens Boy Scouts of America (QBSA) held its 2018 Aviation Luncheon on September 26 in at one of the most interesting event venues on Long Island, The Cradle of Aviation which hosted the event, to 250 members of the diverse aviation community from JFK, Newark and LaGuardia airports. Read more…

KAAMCO Golf Day scores big with members

Ah, finally the Kaamco Golf Day! At the last minute the original date was aborted because of one lousy rainy day. It was unclear if a venue could be found during the season. But, the Kaamco team did just that at the luxurious Plandome Country Club. What a beautiful golf course with endless rolling hills. Well it was great if you had a golf cart. Some of the holes seemed so far apart that the watering hole/ BBQ stop was very welcomed. Read more…

Giant Antonov cargo plane loads up at JFK

The Antonov AN124,one of the largest super freighter in the world , at JFK Airport taking a load of heavy equipment overseas. This cargo flight was arranged by a Korean firm who purchased compressor units from Elliott-Turbo that are replacng those lost in January 2017 at a refinery at Abu Dhabi National Oil Company complex. The JFK Chamber of Commerce held is most recent luncheon featuring Ed Baklor, Chief Commercial Officer of LaGuardia Gateway Partners as the guest speaker and was a success said Joe Clabby, President of the Chamber. Jbay activists protect ailing island

Some residents who live near on or the tiny islands in Jamaica Bay work together to help protect this environment by banding together and helping Nature takes its course. These activists, Jamaica Bay Eco-Watchers, Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservency, American Littoral Society, Bloomberg Group and a host of others do their part in improving the waters, and islands that dot the bay. JFK handles fourth nor’easter of March

JFK was prepared for the fourth Nor-Easter of March. All airports EOC’s were operational. Telecoms were regularly held. The storm was forecasted with an expected 12-018 inches of snow. Luckily the forecast was worse than the actual storms but there were many cancellations and tired people having stayed the night to make sure there were no international flight or passenger problems. Delta Regional VP speaks to Chamber of Commerce

Delta Air Lines Regional VP Northeast, Henry Kuykendall was the guest speaker at the oversold JFK Chamber of Commerce Luncheon. Kuykendall thanked the Chamber of Commerce for the opportunity to share the Delta successes and commitment to the aviation and airport communities. He was proud to talk about the new $4 billion investment that Delta is making to the new LaGuardia Airport now under development; thanked JFKIAT for their great partnership; and thanked Delta employees for their loyalty. Claus for celebration

The Community Mayors welcomed Santa Claus as he waved from the Delta cockpit as it was pulled into Hangar 19 to a cheering crowd of over 4000 special needs children and airport community volunteers. Read more…

JFK Rotary & JetBlue Wow Special Children

The JFK Rotary Club hosted over 400 special needs children at its annual Kids Christmas Party at JetBlue. A JetBlue plane served as Santa’s transportation this year, and he made a grand entrance waving his arms and shouting his traditional “ho, ho, ho” to the awaiting kids. Read more…

Kiwanis & Kwaanza: Perfect together

The Kiwanis Club of LaGuardia Airport held its annual children’s party at the Episcopal Church of Faith in East Elmhurst. Children from The Learning Tree and Stem Art schools attended and were treated to music, foods, gifts, interactive dancing and entertainment emceed by Cowboy Eddie Abraham and Doctor Bob of WBLS. Guest performer Karen Tucker, dressed in traditional African clothing explained the meaning of Kwanzaa which is celebrating human courage and faith of humanity by uniting all in celebration of life. She then led 50 students in a Kwanzaa based dance routine which got everyone moving. Read more…
